The scarce first edition of Charles Prentiss's biography of the prominent United States Army officer and diplomat, General William Eaton.

Eaton played an important diplomatic and military role in the First Barbary War between the United States and Tripoli. He also gave testimony at the treason trial of former Vice President Aaron Burr, and served one term in the General Court of Massachusetts.

Rebound in calf, with endpapers renewed.

With the stamp of the American Institute Library to the title page, and the head of page 9.

Tipped in portrait of the author to verso of a front blank.

An informative and scarce biography.

Condition

Rebound in full calf, with endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent. Small portrait of the author pasted to the verso of a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned due to paper type, with the odd spot. Library stamp to title page, and head of page 9.
