A very scarce first edition.

The work of writer James Lawrence, who claimed to be a Knight of Malta, and was known as the Chevalier Lawrence.

In his essay, Lawrence discusses theatrical regulations, the degeneration of drama, the injustice of London stage managers, and other diverse aspects of the theatrical state of England in the early nineteenth century.
