Illustrated with folding monochrome steel engraved frontispiece to 'Volume I' depicting a map of the Eastern hemisphere. Collated, lacking folding map to the rear of 'Volume I'. 

Bound in full contemporary calf. Retaining original half titles. 

A three volume, complete set. 

This scarce three volume work was written anonymously by Sir John Graham Dalyell, and provides a historical account of shipwrecks and maritime disasters from as early as the fifteenth century up to the early nineteenth century.

Condition

Bound in contemporary full calf. Retaining original half titles. Externally, rubbing to the extremities and joints, small closed tears to the leather to the head and tails of the spines to 'Volumes I, and III', joints starting to 'Volume I and II'. Volumes II and III lacking top spine labels. Bookplates of Lionel Foster to the front pastedowns. Lacking front free endpaper to 'Vol I', and hinges cracked but firm. Internally, lacking map to the rear to 'Vol I', otherwise firmly bound with the occasional spotting to 'Vol III', the odd spot to the others. Tidemarks to the fronts and rears.
