Illustrated with an engraved title page, and nine further engraved plates by Clement Marillier. Collated, complete.
Including many of the chief works from the prominent tragedian, including 'Idomenee', Atree et Thyeste', 'Electre', 'Rhadamiste et Zénobie' and 'Xerxes'.
With a contemporary inscription to a front blank, and with the bookplate of Ernest Albert Baker - an author, and editor of English fiction, dictionaries, and works on caving - to the front pastedown.
A beautifully bound edition of Crebillon's works, with detailed engravings.
Condition
In a straight grain morocco binding, with blind tooling and gilt detailing to board perimeters. Back strip age toned, with spine label renewed. Light rubbing to joints. A touch of worming to tail of rear hinge, with board firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Contemporary inscription to a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright and generally clean, with only the odd spot to page perimeters.
