Parts I and II of Arabella Argus's moral and educational periodical for children, which was written in the style of Addison and Steele’s The Spectator.
The work presents a series of essays narrated by “Arabella Argus,” a kindly governess figure, who offers observations and instruction on topics such as behaviour, manners, reading, obedience, and kindness.
Present here are: The 1813 'second edition, improved' of the first part of the work, and the 1812 first edition of the second part of the work.
Illustrated with four plates to part one, and with two plates to part two. Lacking the frontispiece to each volume.
With three pages of advertisements to the rear of Part I.
Condition
In a quarter calf binding, with cloth covered boards. Light handling marks to boards. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Front free endpaper a touch tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with handling marks throughout. Lacking frontispieces.
