The second edition, third impression, as per the figures stated by Todd and Burton in their 1998 ‘Sir Walter Scott: A Bibliographical History, 1796-1832’. This second edition was published in the same year as the first edition.
'The Vision of Don Roderick' is a vivid poem celebrating the victories of the Duke of Wellington during the Peninsular War. It is based on a historic account of the consultation of an oracle by the last Visigothic King of Spain, Roderic. It is a panoramic poem, depicting various phases throughout the future of Spain.
Also with the poems 'The Maid of Niedpath', 'Wandering Willie', 'The Violet', 'The Bard's Incantation', and 'The Resolve'.
Written by Walter Scott, the Scottish writer of the 'Waverley' novels.
Bound without the half-title.
Three pages of adverts to the rear.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Joints are starting. Light discolouration and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. A little light rubbing. A small amount of loss to the rear joint. Hinges are a little tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spotting.
