Leather Binding, Very Scarce

A 'New Edition' of this very scarce work, which was first published in 1785.

Complete in three volumes, uniformly bound in tree calf.

An impressive collection of 'sermons and discourses on the most important and interesting subjects' from Ebenezer Erskine, a Scottish minister whose actions led to the establishment of the Secession Church, which was formed from dissenters from the Church of Scotland.

After he became a Free Gardener in 1722, his sermons began to include numerous horticultural allusions.

Condition

In full tree calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. Rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints. Back strips age toned. Volume I front joint and head and tail of rear joint starting, with boards firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown of volume II and rear pastedown of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned due to paper type, with the odd spot.
