The first edition of this very scarce work.
Thomas Tegg's account of the Old Price Riots of 1809, a series of riots caused by the rising prices at the new Theatre at Covent Garden. Whilst being factual, Tegg's poems are humorous, and show the deadly three month riots in a comical light.
Written and published by Thomas Tegg, a bookseller based in London.
Bound without the frontispiece, which is often lacking.
Half-title is present.
Condition
In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, front board is held by one cord only. Rear joint and hinge are staring. Light rubbing and a few minor marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Spots to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots.
