The very scarce first edition of Samuel Jackson Pratt's poem The Lower World from 1810. Printed by Whittingham and Rowland for the publisher's Sharpe and Hailes.
Rebound with modern paper cover boards. Contains all four books. Front endpaper signed by a relative of Pratt's.
A rousing poem written by Pratt, most famously the author of Emma Corbett, on society and law. Pratt writes to the 'interest of humanity' and addresses the poem to both the Houses of Parliament and the Assemblies of the British Empire.
Condition
Rebound with modern paper covered boards. Externally, very smart. Slight sunning to the top of front board. Minimal signs of shelf wear. Offsetting to endpapers. The occasional leaf unopened. Pages are bright and generally clean. The odd spot to the extremities.
