Scott's narrative poem is arranged in six cantos - each concerning the actions of a single day - the work has three main plots; the contest among three men to win the love of Ellen Douglas; the feud and reconciliation of King James V of Scotland and James Douglas; and a war between the Lowland Scots and the Highland Clans.

In a straight grain morocco binding.

Condition

In a full straight grain morocco binding. Head of rear joint starting, with board firmly held. Front joint starting, with board tenderly held by one cord only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with light spotting to page perimeters.
