Illustrated with a frontispiece and four plates to volume I and a frontispiece and six plates to volume II. Collated, complete.
An epic poem by Sir Walter Scott, telling of the sixteenth century Scotland and England, concluding with the Battle of Flodden of 1513. A story of treason, lust, and dishonesty evolving around Lord Marmion's lust for a rich, engaged woman.
The first edition appeared in 1808 and many editions followed within the same year.
Retaining the half title.
Condition
Bound in half calf. Externally, very good, with rubbing to the boards and extremities, causing a little loss. Hinges are a touch strained but holding firm. Bookseller label to rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few handling marks and light offsetting.
