Spurious reprint of the Third Edition. Watermark 'J & R Ansell 1818' most visible to vii-2pp. Lovely to see in the original boards. English Bards and Scotch Reviewers is a satirical poem by Lord Byron. Originally published anonymously in 1809, the poem begins by parodying the first satire of Juvenal. Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist.
Condition
In original state boards. Externally, worn. Joints are starting but firm with severe loss to backstrip where the binding is splitting. Rubbing and marks to the boards and extremities. Hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, binding is tender. Watermark of J & R Ansell dated 1818 most visible to vii-2pp. Pages are generally bright and clean
