    Illustrated, Leather Binding

    A new edition, pointing out the pieces selected by Richard Hurd and including his Lordship's notes and including Dr. Johnson's 'Life of the Author'. 

    Bound in later half calf with marbled paper to the boards. Endpapers and blanks renewed.

    Illustrated with engraved title pages. 

    A collection of works from the prominent seventeenth century English poet and essayist Abraham Cowley. This set includes his essays on topics such as liberty, agriculture, the danger of procrastination, and his collections of love verses titled 'The Mistress', and other poetical works. 

    A three volume complete set.

    Condition

    Bound in later half calf with marbled paper to the boards. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Externally, lightly rubbed to the boards, with corners of marbled paper lifting with small closed tears to the rear board of vol II. Hinges re-enforced. Internally firmly bound with bright pages with spotting to the fronts and rears, otherwise generally clean. Small tidemark to the engraved title page to vol III.
