Written and illustrated by English caricaturist and author of humorous works, George Moutard Woodward. This work was a collaboration between Woodward and his close friend and drinking partner, the artist and caricaturist Thomas Rowlandson.
This entertaining work presents a collection of "modern manners", parodying the more sophisticated social rules presented in Lord Chesterfield's letters to his son.

Condition
Bound in the publisher's original boards with a morocco spine. Externally, very good, with rubbing and a little loss to board extremities, and a few marks. To the rear there is no endpaper, but is a leaf of ads in its place. Retaining half title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with light offsetting from plates and the odd spot. Ink note to front free endpaper.
