Description

Early Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

The fifth edition of this work.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and sixteen plates.

Collated, complete.

An expansive dictionary for sportsman, containing instructions in a wide range of sporting activities and the management of different animals.

This edition was improved and enlarged by the Poet Laureate Henry James Pye, who held the position from 1790 to 1813, though the appointment was less to do with his poetry and more a reward for his political support for William Pitt the Younger.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, a little worn. Tear to the head of the front joint, with a small amount of loss and lifting of leather, including a little loss to the head of the spine. Light bumping to the extremities. Patches of rubbing to the boards and spine. Front hinge is a little strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots. Tidemark to the frontispiece, and a smaller tidemark to the plates.
