'The Complete Grazier', or 'Farmer and Cattle-Dealer's Assistant' contains information required in nineteenth-century farming. Comprised of instructions for buying, breeding and rearing cattle; directions for the choice of livestock breeds; treatment of disease; irrigation and cultivating the meadows, and much more.
Together with an introductory view of the different breeds of cattle, sheep horses and swine, with an appendix on the improvement of the sheep dog, the horse and British wool.
Written by "A Lincolnshire Grazier", or Thomas Hartwell Horne, an English theologian and librarian.
Filled with the notes of a previous owner covering the front and rear blanks, with excellent farming tips on curing ailments, including 'Foot Rot in Sheep'.
Condition
Rebound in full cloth, with the endpapers renewed and original blanks retained. Externally, lovely. Internally, blanks are age toned and filled with ink notes. Firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with the odd spot or handling mark, and heavier spots to title page and frontispiece. Tide mark to folding plate.
