A notable travel work on Demerara, a detailed and vivid account of the author's travels there from November 1798 to October 1805.
During this trip Bolingbroke also visited and documented other British colonies of the Guiana.
This work explores the history and culture of Demerara and the surrounding areas, as well as questioning the practice of slavery, and ruminating on subjects such as coffee and sugar cultivation.

Condition
In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing and spots to the boards and spine. Spine is a little discoloured. Front joint is a little cracked. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some odd spots, mostly to the first and last few pages.
