Nine volumes. The official horse racing calendars for Great Britain and Ireland, containing an account of plates, matches, and sweepstakes for each year. With chapters on race locations, racing committees, rules for betting, statistical observations, a list of previous winners, owner colours, trainers, and more. This collection contains the calendars for the years 1806, 1809, 1811, 1812, 1813, 1814, 1835, 1867, and 1912. Being volumes thirty-four, thirty-seven, thirty-nine, forty, forty-one, forty-two, sixty-three, ninety-five, and one hundred and forty accordingly. Each volume contains an abstract of engagements entered into for future years. Written by Edward and James Weatherby, publishers and directors of Weatherbys Ltd., a UK conglomerate involved in a wide range of activities largely within banking and horse racing. The original business was founded by James Weatherby in 1770, with his first racing calendar being published in 1773.

Condition

Bound in full calf. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spines with small marks to the boards. Light loss to the head and tail of the spines of volumes for 1806, 1811, 1812, 1813, 1835, and 1867. Cracks to the joints of volumes for 1806, 1811, 1812, 1835, and 1867. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and minor age toning to the extremities. Minor worming to the first few pages of 1806.
