A complete eight volume set of the works of Paley, present in mixed editions, as is common with Paley's works.
William Paley was an English Anglican clergyman, Christian apologist, philosopher, and utilitarian.
Paley is best known for the work 'Natural Theology' - which is present here in the tenth edition - in which he established the so-called 'watchmaker analogy', a teleological argument for the existence of god.

Rebacked, with back strips laid down and boards restored, and with endpapers renewed.
Condition
Rebacked, in half calf bindings, retaining the original boards, and with back strips laid down. Endpapers renewed. Rubbing to boards, with small losses of paper. Internally, firmly bound. Faint tide marks to head of first three leaves of volume I, with minor worming to gutter tail of first five leaves. Minor worming to gutter head of first sixteen pages of volume II, and first four leaves of volume IV, and first 24 pages of volume VI. Minor worming to gutter head and tail of first eleven pages of volume V. Tide marks to title page of volume VIII, with minor worming to head of first 22 pages. Pages otherwise clean and bright.
