The first of these two works is the 1806 first edition of 'Wild Flowers' by Robert Bloomfield, English labouring-class poet known for his rustic descriptive verse.
Illustrated with eight plates. Collated, complete.
The second work is the 1809 third edition of 'Rhymes on Art or The Remonstrance of a Painter' by Martin Archer Shee. A critique of the state of contemporary arts, patronage and public taste.
With the bookplate of I. R. Freme to the front pastedown, alongside pencil inscriptions from a prior owner.
This slight volume presents two charming early 19th century works.
Condition
In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Lacking majority of back strip, and spine label. Rubbing to board perimeters. Joints starting, with boards a touch tender. Bookplate and former owner's pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
