Volume I is illustrated with a folding frontispiece.

Volume I covers quadrupeds; volume II covers birds, quadrupeds and whales, and volume III covers fishes, insects and amphibious animals.

The work of William Bingley, an English cleric, naturalist and writer. This work was first published in 1803, and was enormously popular, reaching six editions by 1824, and being translated into several European languages.

With an index to the rear of each volume.

Condition

In full calf bindings. Rubbing to back strip, joints, and board perimeters. Volume I joints starting, with front board somewhat tender. Heads and tails of volume III joints starting, with boards firmly held. Volume II hinges strained but firmly held. Inscriptions to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with light handling marks throughout.
