Early Edition, Leather Binding, Scarce

A scarce work in all contemporary editions.

Present here is the second edition of volume II of this work, preceded by seven individual 'dialogues' drawn from volumes I and III, but lacking their title pages.

This is Rowland Hill's popular series of dialogues dealing with a variety of subjects, including the slave trade, sectarianism, the poor, and religion.

Extracted from volume III are dialogue Nos. 56, 57, from volume I are dialogues 4-8. Volume II contains dialogues IX-XVII.

With the bookplate of Egerton Parker to the front free endpaper.

This work eventually extended to four volumes.

Condition

In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Light rubbing to head of front board. Fading to back strip. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean, though age toned throughout, with light handling marks.
