Oliver Goldsmith was an important and prolific Anglo-Irish author in the eighteenth century. The present work collects in four volumes a miscellany of his work, including notable poetry (The Deserted Village &c.), novels (The Vicar of Wakefield &c.), ballads (The Hermit), plays (The Good-Natur'd Man and She Stoops to Conquer &c.), and more. Complete four volumes in uniform full calf bindings.
Including a biographical sketch of his life and work.
Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author to volume I.
Condition
Rebacked in uniform full calf bindings with the original spines restored, five raised bands, titles on morocco label to spine. Externally sound with shelf wear, cracking to joints with boards holding firm, chipping to head and tail of spine and boards. Previous ownership inscription to front free endpapers dated 1809. Internally, firmly bound. Few spots scattered to the occasional leaf, particularly to first and last, although pages are generally very clean throughout. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author to vol. I.
