A popular epistolary novel, following two lovers turned rivals who are setting out to ruin those around them and one another.
The novel, by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, depicts the corruption and depravity of the French nobility before the Revolution. The work has remained popular in the centuries since its publication, being adapted to screen in stage in different iterations, including a 1988 film, and the 1999 adaptation 'Cruel Intentions'.
Condition
In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, little rubbed, with discolouration to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spines are a touch faded. Front joint and hinge of Volumes II and III are a little strained. Loss to the rear board of Volume II. Small tear to the head of the front joint of Volume IV. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with scattered spots.
