Complete in two volumes.

Bound in half calf.

A vanishingly scarce abstract exploring the holy scriptures of the old and new testament, containing particular reference to historical elements, collected with a view to promote the reading and knowledge of the scriptures.

The most well-known work of John Kendall, a Colchester Quaker born into the 'Society of Friends'. Kendall wrote a number of religious works, each of which had the aim to promote Christian understanding.

This copy containing a bookplate for Friends' Library, Bradford, being an archive of Quaker-based records and books located in Bradford.

Condition

Bound in half calf. Externally, sound,with rubbing to joints and extremities. Joints are cracking to both volumes, with each backstrip lifting to the head. Hinges are a little strained, but holding generally firm. Library label to backstrip. Bookplate to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with just a few marks. Spotting to pages 191-219 of volume II.
