A wonderful guide containing information on book keeping, gardening, geography, carpentry, masonry and astronomy, alongside a variety of further secular subject matters.

With an illustrated frontispiece, plate of the 'Rotund Hand Alphabet', and numerous vignette illustrations. Lacking the two folding plates of geometric shapes.

With an inscription and former owner's ink markings to the frontispiece, with the inscription of W. Davidson, 1874 to the verso of leaf A5, and with further ink notations and markings to a small number of further leaves.

In a full calf binding, with significant rubbing to boards and back strip. Small losses to back strip head and tail. Discolouration to boards. Front and rear joints starting, with boards holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned due to paper type, with areas of further discolouration. Former owner's inscriptions and ink markings to illustrated frontispiece, inscription to verso of leaf A5, and a small number of further leaves. Light handling marks throughout.
