Uniformly bound in a contemporary full speckled calf, with morocco spine labels.
A detailed overview of the reigns of George I and George II, with emphasis on the first two Hanoverian Kings of Great Britain to also reign as Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg. Interwoven are extracts of the Kings' correspondence and memoirs.
From English political writer and historian William Belsham, who notably wrote from a radical Whig standpoint and belonged to the anti-war group of historians, with Charles James Fox and Anthony Robinson. This work, together with its multi-volume follow ups 'Memoirs of the Reign of George III' and 'A History of Great Britain' were reissued under the title 'History of Great Britain to the Conclusion of the Peace of Amiens in 1802' (1806).
Condition
Uniformly bound in a contemporary full speckled calf, with morocco spine labels. Externally, with significant rubbing to the extremities and fading to the gilt to the spines. With cracking to the joints, the front joints starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with scattered spotting largely concentrated to the first and last few leaves. Contemporary ownership inscription to both title pages.
