A very scarce first edition.

This legal treatise sets out the authority, structure, and procedures of the Court of Great Sessions as applied to the Welsh counties on the Chester Circuit.

Charles Abbot, the author of this work and later 1st Baron Colchester and Speaker of the House of Commons, was noted for his rational reforms and systematic study of parliamentary procedure, and this early work reflects his analytical approach to institutional practice.

Retaining half title.

With a former owner's note to the verso of the title page, dated 1993 and regarding a trip to Sunday School.

Condition

In a contemporary calf binding. Back strip age toned to head and tail, with remnants of ink library number to back strip tail, and abrasion to calf at tail of front board as a result of tape removal. Small loss of calf to rear joint tail. Joints starting, with boards firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Evidence of ink inscription to title page head, with former owner's note to verso of title page. Pages bright and generally clean, with only the odd spot.
