A fascinating look at the internal workings of the Conciergerie prison in Paris, offering an insight in the life of the prison during the French Revolution.

The Conciergerie was a prison in Paris, wherein 2,781 prisoners were imprisoned, tired, and sentenced during the French Revolution, including Marie Antoinette herself.

Condition

In a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, a little worn, with rubbing to the boards and spine. Bumping and loss to the extremities, and a small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Boards are a little discoloured with a few marks. Loss and lifting to the spine label. Tears to the head and tail of the joints. Small tidemark to the rear board. Torn label to the head of the joints. Hinges are starting but firm. Front endpaper is almost detached. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down and to the recto of the front endpaper. Small chip to the rear endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age-toned with scattered spots and handling marks. Small amount of paper adhered to the recto of the frontispiece.
