A marvellous first edition of this guide to Scottish theatre as told by a controversial contemporary, John Jackson, actor and manager of the Theatre Royal in Edinburgh. It is described as containing 'a distinct narrative of some recent theatrical transactions, the whole necessarily interspersed with memoirs of his own life'.
This edition is in a half calf binding with marbled boards, with a simple gilding to the spine and speckled decoration along the foredge.
Condition
Externally very smart with just some rubbing in places. Internally firmly bound, pages clean and bright.
