The fifth edition of the work. Endpapers and blanks renewed, otherwise complete in two volumes. Prior owner's bookplate to front paste down of both volumes. Extensive prior owner's notes tipped in to preliminaries of both volumes. Notes in both English and Latin and include transcriptions of a number of poems, including "On the Loss of the Royal George" and 'Sonnet to Mrs. Unwin' by William Cowper as well as critical analysis. An early edition of the poetical works of influential English poet, William Cowper. Contains several of his most notable works including Table Talk and The Task.

Condition

In full contemporary calf. Rebacked with backstrips laid down. Externally generally smart with rubbing to the boards and extremities. Rear joint to volume two tender. Evidence of worming to boards. Prior owner's bookplate to paste down of both volumes. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot. Significant prior owner's notes tipped in to front and back of both volumes.
