The tenth edition of this very scarce work, which was first published in the 1760s under the title 'The Complete English Cook'.

Alongside recipes, this volume includes around two hundred medicinal cures and treatments, and a guide to clear-starching, ironing, and household management.

Rebound in quarter calf, with endpapers renewed.

Contemporary inscription of Rob. Cotton to title page head.

With bookplate of Martin and Pamela Finch to front free endpaper. They were antiquarian booksellers with an interest in antiquarian gastronomy.

This work aimed at providing affordable, practical cookery advice for beginners.

Condition

Rebound in quarter calf, with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent, with light handling marks to boards. Endpapers renewed. Bookplate to front free endpaper. Inscription to title page head. Pages age toned throughout, with spotting and handling marks, and with tide marks to gutters of final four leaves.
