Leather Binding, Scarce
A scarce work in a quarter calf binding. Bookplate to the front paste down. George Lillo's most famous work, a tragic play following the downfall of a young apprentice due to his association with a prostitute. The play was first performed at the Drury Lane Theatre in 1731, and was one of the most popular plays of the century. This edition has been adapted for theatrical representation, as performed at the Drury Lane and Covent Garden theatres, and regulated from the prompt books, by permission of the managers.
Condition
In a quarter calf binding. Externally fairly smart, with some rubbing to the spine and shelf wear to the extremities. The front hinge is tender and the rear hinge is starting. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright but with the odd spot throughout, more concentrated to the first and last few pages.
