This copy is in need of a caring restoration to the binding. Internally, the work remains in a bright condition.
With a gift inscription to George Barnes from Christopher Hussey of the British architecture authority. Label for Scotney Castle, Lamberhurst which was Hussey's family home.
This is a folio volume of over nine hundred pages, and it contains the substance of his former publications. With chapters on arithmetic, geometry, cosmography, astronomy, navigation, and trigonometry in addition to nautical instruments and the doctrine of triangles.
With the title page in red and black as called for.
2E2 is misbound after 2E3. Plate of the moon to page 446 is bound upside down.
Collated, complete.

Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally the boards are detached but present. Lacking most of the spine. Inscription to the front pastedown, 'C H Grove' and 'Given to George Barnes.. Christopher Hussey'. Frontispiece, title page and dedication leaves are detached but present. Chips to the edges of frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Offsetting to the margins of M3 & M4. Occasional light tidemarks to the head of plates. Scattered spots to pages.
