An early German-language edition of the Avesta, a collection of sacred writings from the Zoroastrian religion. The Avesta is the primary collection of religious texts of Zoroastrianism, originally composed in the Avestan language, but translated here by Johann Friedrich Kleuker.
A first edition thus, being a smaller excerpt from Kleuker's larger edition which was published between 1776 and 1783.
With the bookplate of F. Diba to the verso of the title page, and with a seminary library bookplate to the front pastedown. With a former owner's inscription to the tail of the front pastedown.
Kleuker was a German Protestant theologian and University professor.

In paper covered boards. Rubbing to back strip head and tail, joints, and board perimeters. Inscription and bookplate to front pastedown. Lacking front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Bookplate to verso of title page. Pages clean and bright.
