    Scarce in any early edition. First published in 1784.

    A delightful children's bible, intended for the amusement and religious education of children.

    Containing select passages from the New and Old Testaments, with a short account of the lives of the evangelists. Each passage depicts numerous illustrations, whereby an image has replaced a word or phrase to create a fun and decorative piece.

    Also containing three pages of questions and answers to the rear, to quiz children on their biblical knowledge.

    Illustrated with a frontispiece and woodcut figures throughout.

    Ink inscription of Maria Ridley to the front paste down.

    Condition

    Bound in the publisher's original pictorial wraps, rebacked and with a contemporary spine. Endpapers renewed. Externally, very good, with light soiling and some rubbing to boards. Ink inscription to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age toned, but otherwise bright and clean.
