Description

First Edition, Very Scarce

A very scarce first edition.

In this volume, playwright William Davies - about whom little is known - presents five plays not intended for public performance, works he instead intends to be confined to the 'private theatre' of the home.

These five plays, largely comic in nature, are titled 'News the Malady', 'The Mode', 'The Generous Counterfeit, 'Better Late than Never', and 'The Man of Honour'.

Retaining the original half title. Lacking the terminal errata leaf.

ESTC T101657

A very scarce work, of which no subsequent editions were published.
