A beautifully illustrated edition of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's final novel.

In the original Spanish.

Complete in two volumes.

Illustrated with four engraved plates to each volume, by Jose Ximeno and engraved by Moreno Tejada, Selva, Brieva, etc. Collated, complete.

Retaining the original half titles.

First published in 1617, and completed only three days before the author's death. This is an adventure-filled Byzantine-style romance, that follows the journey of the protagonists Persiles and Sigismunda as they overcome numerous obstacles to be together.

Condition

In full calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright and generally clean, with the odd handling mark or instance of spotting.
