First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce first edition volume of a magazine founded in 1731, that ran uninterrupted for almost 200 years.
Volume LI of this work, for the year 1781.
Illustrated with fourteen engraved plates, seven of which are folding. Collated, lacking one plate which should face page 65.
Containing articles on the origins of the word 'cash', Madan's doctrine of polygamy, corn prices, the injustice of slavery, Punic inscriptions found in Canada, and a 'manifesto relative to the Dutch war'.
Former owner's inscription to title page head.

Condition
In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Light rubbing to joints and back strip head and tail. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with the odd handling mark or spot. Lacking one plate. Inscription to title page head.
