Illustrated, Leather Binding
Uncommon. Complete in 2 volumes bound in one. Tobias Smollett (1721-1771) was a Scottish poet and author, best known for his picaresque novels, which influenced later novelists such as Charles Dickens. This particular work is based in part on the authors own experience in the Royal Navy, as a surgeon's mate.
Condition
In a quarter calf binding. Externally, worn. Front board is detached but present, while rear joint is starting but still reasonably firm. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, binding is tender. Pages are somewhat age-toned but otherwise generally clean.
