Bound in a full burgundy calf binding.
The work was first published in 1779, some years after Williams’s death in 1755, this edition was published by the Book Society for Promoting Religious Knowledge in London, with the society established in 1750.
This copy features a portrait engraving of Joseph Williams by H. Adlard.
The diary and meditations reflect Joseph Williams’ personal spiritual journey, with letters often addressing family, friends, or other ministers, giving personal, devotional, and pastoral advice.
Joseph Williams (1695–1755) of Kidderminster was an English nonconformist layman known for his deep piety, devotional writings, and extensive religious correspondence.
Condition
Bound in a full burgundy calf binding. Externally, very smart. Slight creasing to calf at spine and joints. One or two minor handling marks to boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight offsetting from frontispiece engraving to title page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to first and last few leaves.
