What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding
French. Complete in two volumes. With a frontispiece to volume one. A collection of the fables of Jean de La Fontaine, a French fabulist and one of the most widely read French poets of the seventeenth century. His works provided a model for subsequent fabulists across Europe. Fontaine collected fables from a wide variety of sources, both Western and Eastern, and adapted them into French free verse. Humorous, nuanced and ironical, they were originally aimed at adults but were soon introduced into the educational system and are now considered classics of French literature.
