An eighteenth century edition of John Milton's important poem, alongside 'Samson Agonistes', and 'Poems Upon Several Occasions'.
John Milton's sequel to his epic blank verse poem on the Fall of Man.
This sequel, 'Paradise Regain'd', is likewise a blank verse poem, though is much shorter than its predecessor, being described as a brief epic.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and two plates to Volume I, and three plates to Volume II.
This edition was edited with notes by Thomas Newton.

Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, a little worn. Volume II is lacking the spine labels. Loss to the head and tail of the spines. Bumping to the extremities. Leather is a little rubbed with some light marks. Lifting to the spine of Volume II. Small crack to the tail of the front joint of Volume I. Hinges of Volume I are starting but firm, front hinge of Volume II is a little strained and the rear hinge is tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean with the occasional spot and handling mark. The occasional ink annotation to the text. Head of the title page of Volume II has been excised, with no loss of text.
