Philip Luckombe's work provides an overview of the history of printing and the printing press, with discussion of the invention of movable type, the development of paper, and the impact of printing on society and culture.

Luckombe also discusses the various printing processes used throughout history, including woodcut, engraving, etching, and lithography.

Additionally, he provides biographical information about important figures in the history of printing, such as Johannes Gutenberg and William Caxton.

Rebacked, in a full calf binding with original boards restored, and endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent. Bookplate to verso of front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Library stamp to verso of title page and final leaf. Pages age toned due to paper type, but generally clean.
