One of the most famous and frequently reprinted poems on hunting, written in Miltonic blank verse. It traces the history of hunting up to the Norman Conquest of England, with reference to kennel design, hare hunting, stag hunting, otter hunting, and the breeding and training of dogs.
The well-known work of English poet William Somervile, noted for pioneering early English georgic.

Condition
Bound in a later quarter calf, with marbled paper covered boards. Renewed endpapers. Externally, with minimal shelf wear and very minor fading to the spine. Bookplate of J. S. Dearden to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Title and verso of p. 199 reinforced at inner-margin. Pages are lightly browned, with a few small ink stains to A2 and tide marks at inner-edge and margins, mainly at beginning and end.
