Bound in half calf by Nettleton & son, a bindery located in Plymouth.

A key to the new testament providing an account of the books included, the authors and of the times and places of which they were written.

This informative work presents a guide in two parts, the first of which concerns the Jewish sects or parties alluded to in the gospels, and the second of which surrounds the sects of heresies alluded to in the epistles.

Written by Thomas Percy, the Bishop of Dromore and previously a chaplain to George III. Percy was considered to play an important role in the ballad revival in English poetry, collecting together ballads in his 'Reliques of Ancient English Poetry'.

With the half title and one page of publisher's advertisements.

Condition

Bound in half calf. Externally, sound, with rubbing to the extremities and joints. Cracking to the upper joints, with backstrip lifting slightly. Two horizontal tears to backstrip. Binder label and ink mark to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with just a few light marks. Ink inscription to half title.
