    Early Edition, Rebound, Very Scarce

    The second edition of this very scarce work.

    A series of nine letters written by a Bishop addressed to a young clergyman, advising on the religious profession, and how to lead a holy life.

    The letters were written by the author to a near relation, "whom the author tenderly loved", all letters being addressed to "Dear Neddy".

    The first letter is dated October 1757.

    Collated, complete.

    Condition

    Rebound in paper wraps. Externally, smart, with handling marks to the wraps. Prior owner's ink title to the front wrap. A little light edge wear to the wraps. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and generally clean. Loss to the title page, repaired. Institutional stamp to the verso of the title page, and to a few other pages.
