Description
Early Edition, Rebound
A compilation of works, including 'A Strange and True Account' by H Timberlake, The Travels of Fourteen Englishmen' by Nathaniel Crouch, 'Relation of the great council' by Samuel Brett and 'The Counterfeit Messiah' from John Evelyn's 'History of three late famous imposters'. Collated: Complete, with one plate and pages 152-160 misnumbered. A fascinating volume, containing a great amount information regarding the history of Judaism and their existence in America, Africa, Palestine and more. Uncommon in any edition or condition. Nathaniel Crouch was an English printer and bookseller who wrote under the pseudonym Richard Burton, or R.B. He was considered a poor historian, borrowing heavily from other works and publishing them as his own works under his imprint. He was widely denounced by historians of the following centuries, including Samuel Butler and Alexander Pope, although he is now regarded as a figure of interest in the development of historiography.
