Leland, an Irish Presbyterian minister, viewed the rise of deism and secularism as grave threats to societal order and the moral foundation of governance.

In this work he addresses both Houses of Parliament, and calls for political and spiritual leaders to reflect on the nation's religious state as a matter of public consequence.

Rebound, with endpapers renewed. 

With the bookplates of the St. Mark's Library Theological Seminary Library to the front and rear pastedowns.
