First published in 1740, this colourful memoir is the work Cibber is best remembered for, notable for its conversational, rambling and anecdotal tone, and deliberate narrative inaccuracies. The text focuses on Cibber's life as a young actor in Drury Lane in the 1690s, and discusses the actors and managers he associated with.

In full calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strip. Light rubbing to joints and back strip head and tail. Front joints and rear joint heads and tails starting, with boards holding firm. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned due to paper type, with spotting throughout.
